Welcome to our Digital Archive of NHS history, the first shared public history of the NHS in the UK. In this Digital Archive you can listen to the stories of the people we have recorded as part of NHS at 70: The Story of Our Lives.

The archive contains complete oral history recordings, alongside documents and images we have collected as part of their story.

  • We have recorded over 800 interviews to date, of which we currently have nearly 100 recordings available in the archive. We are working hard to upload and process interviews over the coming months.
  • If you have a specific area of interest you would like to explore through our recordings please contact us to access interviews that have yet to be published.
  • If you have been interviewed but your recording is not yet in the archive please be assured it is being processed and will be available soon - your contribution is important and is being safely stored for the future. Do get in touch with any questions.

Search the recordings by key word or contributor name. Each interview has a description and has been summarised. searching by key word will feature all summaries which include that word firstly in the description and secondly in the summary.
